Paul Flynn (Flynny)

Flynny anchors the Drive Show (weekdays 4-7pm) with co-host Stace Morrison, for one of New Zealand’s most popular radio stations, The Hits. Flynny is known for his non-stop chatter and not being afraid to speak his mind, he’s particularly passionate about health and don’t get him started on being a father!

Flynny started life as the son of a potato farmer. After graduating, he worked his way up at ZM from general ‘bum boy’ to silly stunt guy, promos, co-host, anchor of ZM with Jay Reeve and now with Stace on The Hits Drive Show. He’s had to do everything from run a show (live to air) from the annual Rhythm & Vines Festival off the battery of an old Pajero, to containing a well-known and respected newsreader who turned up at the studio after a few beers and started to rant on air. As Flynny says, it all happens in radio! Married with four children, Flynny’s biggest life challenge came late in 2012 when he was diagnosed with heart disease at just 33 years old. With the support of his wife, Nat, he has lost over 30 kilograms and completed the 2013 Auckland half marathon in under two hours. His story is one of courage and determination not to be another New Zealand heart attack statistic, told in true ‘Flynny’ style but with a motivational message. Flynny became a marriage celebrant in 2014 after being rejected eight times! He loves being married to Nat and considers marrying people as an absolute privilege and one of the special parts of his life, outside of his own family.
