Simon Shepherd

Simon is a presenter and reporter for TV3’s Newshub, prior to that he anchored TV3’s weekend 6pm news hour with Carolyn Robinson and has been the back-up news anchor for both of the weekday news bulletins, interviewing all the major players in the political and business worlds.

Originally from Australia, where he started his broadcast career, Simon has been reporting for television news and current affairs programmes for more than 20 years, including a stint as a producer for the BBC in London.

In New Zealand, there are not many shows he hasn’t worked for, including many of the country’s leading current affairs programmes such as 60 Minutes, 20/20, Holmes, Campbell Live, Firstline, The Nation and 360.

His experiences range from being on top of an erupting volcano through to the little boy in Liberia begging with no hands.

While Simon might be an Australian he is father to three very Kiwi kids who never miss a chance for a bit of trans-Tasman banter. He also loves playing tennis and watching live bands – when he can!

Simon was incredibly generous, donating his time and expertise to be MC for our Retro Revival fundraising event at Hanene Gardens, December 2013.

His professionalism was well received and ensured the seamless unfolding of events during the day. His particularly personable style ensured the crowd was completely engaged with his humour and fun.

Simon was integral to the event being the success it was.
